Why join Mt. Tam Racquet Club?
When you join Mt. Tam Racquet Club, you become part of a community established in 1973. Our facilities and programs give you the opportunity to optimize your performance in sports, as well as provide a gateway to a healthier lifestyle. Your membership will also provide your entire family with a new venue for meeting friends. Most importantly, all of this will be available to you and your family year-round, regardless of weather.
What are the Club hours?
Weekdays from 5:30 am to 11 pm, weekends and holidays from 7 am to 9 p.m. All facilities are available to members during these hours except for the tennis courts, which are closed on Mondays until noon and the indoor pool, which closes weekdays at 10 pm.
Is there an orientation for new members?
All new members are given a free fitness training and orientation session on the use of the exercise equipment. Additionally, new tennis members are given a free half-hour evaluation of their game and a review of court sign-up procedures.
Are there any additional charges for classes or court time?
All of the classes posted on the monthly Club calendar are free to members. There are no additional charges for court time.
What does Health Center provide?
Mt. Tam’s Health Center offers a full service holistic approach to health care, including many different types of massage techniques. We also offer Physical Therapy, Rehab, and Feldenkreis programs. Gift certificates are available for massages.
How do I get involved with the tennis program?
Our pro staff has developed several programs specifically designed to get tennis players out on the courts with other members. Men’s Day, Ladies Day, Open House Night, and monthly free clinics are just a few examples of ongoing activities that will assist you in getting on the court and playing immediately. We also have a unique Challenge Court System that encourages members to interact with other players of all levels. We are involved with every league program in our area and make it our policy to develop new teams whenever there is a demand. What other services and facilities are available?
We have a comprehensive pro shop specializing in personal attention. Our Café is available, at no charge, to all members for parties and events. Throughout the year the restaurant provides courtside and poolside service. We offer steam rooms in both the men and women’s locker rooms and a Jacuzzi near the indoor pool. We have an indoor basketball court that has designated times for open basketball.
Are there social events?
We are constantly organizing activities to bring people together. Although many of these activities are tennis oriented, we also offer annual holiday parties and gatherings for new members, club anniversaries, etc. Every two years a new Social Committee is elected from the membership and takes on the task of created, organizing and running events. The monthly Newsletter keeps the membership up to date on all our activities and events.
What children’s programs are available?
For children 6-12 years old, we provide a wonderful Multi-sports kids camp and/or tennis camps for all ages throughout the summer. During the school year we offer a complete junior tennis and swim programs. The basketball court provides a healthy environment and serves as a wonderful “playground” for children to meet after school.
What are the Club’s guest policies?
Each membership is entitled to two free guest privileges each month. You may bring up to three people with each privilege. Members must accompany their guest while using the club. Additional guests in the same month are $10 each. Non-members may be Guests once a month. We also provide houseguest passes that allow your houseguest to come and go freely without you accompanying them. These passes may be purchased from the Club for a period of one week up to one month.
What are the restrictions and cost of using Childcare?
Our goal is to accommodate everyone while maintaining a safe environment. We base our three-month minimum age on a child’s ability to be comfortable and their attention requirements. We maintain a low ratio of children to attendants. Current charges are $6.00 per hour, per child. You may leave your child for a maximum of two hours. The Childcare is available from 8:30 am to 7:15 pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 8 am to 6:30 pm on Tuesday and Thursday, Saturday, 8 am to 3 pm and Sunday, 9 am to 2 pm. Live-in Childcare may use the Club only when escorting the children.
What about the indoor and outdoor pools?
The indoor pool is 25 meters long and is used primarily as a lap pool. The first lane, nearest the Jacuzzi, is designated for recreational use and instruction. We keep this pool at 82 degrees year round. The outdoor pool and baby pool are provided for families to enjoy during the warmer months. For convenience, we have added a bathroom/changing room next to the outdoor pool. We use an ozone cleaning system in our pools to help reduce use of pool chemicals.
How often do you add new classes or new equipment?
If the demand is there, we try to meet it. We are constantly looking into new fitness and equipment trends. In recent years, we have added ten or more new machines each year, and have added or changed at least five weekly classes each year.
Can we deactivate or freeze or membership?
Members may freeze their membership for a minimum of three months and a maximum of nine months after being a dues-paying member for one full year. You must notify the Club three months in advance in order to deactivate your membership .
