July Headlines

The First of Its Kind
After talking with many of our tennis members, we discovered that there was a strong demand for an event that would feature senior players, mixed doubles and a more social venue.  The USTA already provides a wonderful senior circuit and plenty of intense competition through league play, but there is a void when it comes to providing a program that allows players of different ages and levels to compete together.  Our event, to be played July 25-27, will feature a mixed doubles combo age of over 80, 100 and 120.  Players must be at least 35 years of age.  This means a player 35 years of age could play with someone 85 and play in the 120 and over category; or maybe two players 50 years old would want to play in the 100 and over age group.  This tournament is also a double elimination event, guaranteeing at least two matches.  To add to the entertainment, we will also be hosting a 35’s and over singles event featuring some of the best players in the area competing for over $2,000 in prize money.  These matches will be played in the evening, so that the players participating in mixed events and Mt. Tam members can hang out in the evenings and enjoy this quality tennis.  Additionally, we will host one of our quarterly Swing Dances free to those who enter the tournament, including free instruction.  The dance will be held on the evening of Friday, July 25.

Don’t Forget To Swing In July
One of greatest social activities of the year returns Friday, July 25 at 7:45 pm.  As in the past, the instruction takes place in the first hour.  Right after that, DJ Fred Loebenstein cranks up the tunes and the dance begins.  Price is $10 for members for both the instruction and the dance.  For those playing in the tennis tournament, it’s free.

Fourth of July Celebration
Club Hours-7:45am-9pm
Remember that the streets surrounding the Club will be closed to all traffic from 10am until 3pm for the Annual Larkspur/Corte Madera Parade.  The outdoor barbecue will be open. This will be a great place to be stranded!
