If you are concerned about your health, or are anticipating summer fun or holiday parties, or just want to put new life into your workout, then a personal trainer is for you.
One goal of personal training is the prevention of disease through active lifestyles. A properly guided exercise program greatly reduces one’s risk for heart disease, diabetes, hypertension, arthritis, hernia, and sleep disorders, as well as poor flexibility, low back pain, chronic pain in joints and restricted movement due to inflammation of joints or lack of muscle and tendon elasticity.
Health issues alone do not motivate everyone. Sometimes an impending event, such as a wedding or class reunion might be the inspiration for looking and feeling a little better. Or, maybe you’ve been doing the same workout for months, even years, and you just need to breathe new life into your routine, or even take it up a level or two.
Our Personal Trainers can help you reach your goals by incorporating effective exercise practices, such as prescribing progressive exercise to minimize injury, ensuring variety and fun during the session, and establishing realistic goals and performing periodic evaluations to track your progress.
Getting started is one thing, sticking with it is another. At MTRC you can be sure that your trainer will create a personalized exercise program that is safe, effective and inspiring. Let us help you in customizing your own fitness program by calling for an appointment today! 415-924-6226.
Unless otherwise noted, appointments are scheduled with trainers through the Fitness Director. Please leave a message through the front desk at 924- 6226. You may either specify a particular trainer, or the Fitness Director can advise you on which trainer would best fit your needs.

Thi practice facilitates the flow of energy - and balances the 12 major meridians of the body - the same as the ones used in Oriental healing modalities such as Chinese Acupuncture. The meridians are understood as certain internal energy pathways that run through the bones and muscles of the body. In this set of exercises, you will learn to actually experience the meridians yourself.
Based on the work of a Japanese Shiatsu master, Shizuto Masunaga, the meridian exercises are done in concert with breath and what he calls Zen Imagery exercises, the basis of which is to allow the body to move according to what it wants. “When I was first introduced to it, in late 2002, I was struck by how natural the exercises were, and how wonderful I felt afterwards,” Vicki Sidley said. “Since then many with whom I’ve shared this yoga have reported similar responses to its effects.” It provides a method of well-rounded physical development and an improvement in vitality and wellbeing in anyone. Prior experience with yoga is not necessary.
